The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level through a variety of techniques in the following units; creatively cutting men’s hair and the intricate specialist work of cutting facial hair. This qualification is suitable to prior learners such as hairdressers,junior barbers, and learners who have successfully completed level 2 certificate in barbering.Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of monitoring health and safety whilst working in the barbering industry. You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification. The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills to a high level of occupational ability to enable you to perform your own salon services.
Over the duration of 10 weeks we guide you so that you graduate at an advanced level .The main topics covered include health & safety client consultation, scissor cuts, Disconnected cuts,skin fading, facial hair, beard trimming.
Our school offers hands-on practical training. This means you won’t be spending all your time in books studying theory. Our tutors will be at your side at all times to supervise, build confidence, progress your skill level and deliver exceptional results. We teach students of all ages and both genders.
Course structure:
- Cutting techniques – classic and creative
- Scissor work – scissor over comb, texturising, layering
- Clipper work – clipper over comb
- Fading– zero-fades, 1-fades, 1.5-fades skin fades
- Beard and moustache trimming
- Advanced disconnected haircuts
- Style and finishing techniques
- Shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp
- Consultation skills
- Health & Safety
you will practice these techniques hands-on, on real clients. With each service you have our tutor at your side giving direct feedback and support. We also use tutor demonstrations to give you the opportunity to watch the Barber and ask questions throughout the service. You next progress to focusing on refining and finishing techniques. Here we teach you drying, styling, and finishing techniques. throughout your course you will be assessed on your haircuts to be completed to standards sufficient to earn your Level 3 qualification ,By the end of the course you will be confident after completing a variety of haircuts
We are here to help you not only learn the skills but to succeed in employment. This involves helping you build a portfolio of your work. After the course, a high % our students go on to successfully gain employment within the industry.
Who supports this qualification?
This qualification is based on Barbering National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK’s leading hairdressing trade body The Hair Council as being fit for purpose to develop your hair skills to prepare you to work as a junior unisex hairdresser/stylist.
